It is built using cross–platform, open–source tools and libraries, so as to be available on all today’s major operating systems, with a native “look and feel” for each. This is the background to TeXworks, which aims to provide a simple TeX environment based on modern standards - including Unicode encoding and PDF output by default - with an uncluttered interface that does not overwhelm the newcomer. There does not seem to be an equivalent tool available on other platforms there are many TeX editors and environments, but none with this particular focus. But TeXShop is built on Mac OS X–specific technologies, and is available only to Mac users. Bypassing DVI reduces the apparent complexity of the overall process, and so reduces the “intimidation factor” for a newcomer. PDF is the de facto standard for fully–formatted pages, and every user knows what a PDF file is and what they can do with it. Experienced users may prefer environments such as iTeXMac, AUCTeX (or on other platforms, WinEDT, Kile, TeXmaker, or many others), with more advanced editing features and project management, but the simplicity of the TeXShop model has much to recommend it for the new or ocasional user.īesides the relatively “clean” interface, a second factor in TeXShop’s success is probably its PDF–centric workflow, with pdfTeX as the default typesetting engine. I believe a large part of its success has been due to its relative simplicity, which has invited new users to begin working with the system without baffling them with options or cluttering their screen with controls and buttons they don’t understand. This capability is based on the “SyncTeX” feature developed by Jérôme Laurens, and supported by both the pdfTeX and XeTeX programs in TeX Live and other current distributions. One of the most successful TeX interfaces in recent years has been Dick Koch’s award–winning TeXShop on Mac OS X. The integrated viewer also supports source/preview synchronization (e.g., control-click within the source text to locate the corresponding position in the PDF, and vice versa). TeXworks includes an integrated PDF viewer, based on the Poppler library, so there is no need to switch to an external program such as Acrobat, xpdf, etc., to view the typeset output. Although it is possible to configure a processing path based on DVI, newcomers to the TeX world need not be concerned with DVI at all, but can generally treat TeX as a system that goes directly from marked-up text files to ready-to-use PDF documents. The normal TeXworks workflow is PDF-centric, using pdfTeX and XeTeX as typesetting engines and generating PDF documents as the default formatted output. ![]() Qt also provides a rich application framework, facilitating the relatively rapid development of a usable product. The Qt toolkit was chosen for the quality of its cross-platform user interface capabilities, with native “look and feel” on each platform being a realistic target. To provide a similar experience across all systems, TeXworks is based on cross-platform, open source tools and libraries. It is deliberately modeled on Dick Koch’s award-winning TeXShop for Mac OS X, which is credited with a resurgence of TeX usage on the Mac platform. TeXworks is a simple TeX front-end program (working environment) available for all today’s major desktop operating systems-in particular, MS Windows (XP/Vista/7), typical GNU/Linux distros and other X11-based systems, as well as Mac OS X. Neutral shades won’t go out of style, but it’s good to learn to take a chance. We will see the floors in smooth textures or in finishes with little contrasting texture and the walls become fun wood cladding in different shades that break the homogeneity of the smooth surfaces. The mixture is enriching! On the one hand, this season we will see a very marked tendency to incorporate soft, natural and tactile materials into spaces and combine them with neutral, warm tones, and some strokes of color in arid and earthy palettes, which will be accompanied by woody textures in those that we can appreciate the naturalness of the material, in medium tones such as oak or hickory. The time when all the floors, walls and ornaments had a single finish is history, today is combining styles and daring to incorporate different colors, textures and materials. ![]() It will seek to have the minimum ecological impact on the materials used, so that light woods that stand out for their variety of tones, and the contrast in their veins, providing a natural and rustic appearance to spaces, will be a trend this season, you will use not only for floors, but also to cover walls and ceilings. Natural, recyclable and organic materials, such as brick plaster, very natural wood, stone, daylight and plant life, are the favorites of this season, as they remind us of the exterior, so longed for at this time. We observe a trend that is based on the return to the origin, predominating the net environments. By 2022, there is a greater interest in everything that lives, emphasizing the connection between human beings and nature. ![]() Having reliable service is extremely important nowadays. The priority of the incident and how it’s responded to can change during the response process depending on how successful the response is. If the issue remains unresolved, it’s critical to escalate the incident and notify the stakeholders. Considering the error budget and SLA, your team can categorize and respond to high-priority incidents. The team needs to ensure that the error budget (amount of acceptable unreliability of service) is not exceeded and more importantly, the SLA (service level agreement) is not breached. Whenever in doubt about incident priority, always go with high-priority, because erring on the side of caution is better than mistaking a severe incident for a minor one.ĭuring incident response, establishing timelines is critical. However, prioritizing incidents can be challenging. During the incident management process, incidents are prioritized as low-priority, medium-priority, and high-priority based on the aforementioned factors. In many organizations, incident management is the responsibility of SREs (Site Reliability Engineers). This classification will allow you to determine who is required to respond and what resources are necessary. The most common use of an incident priority matrix is in the incident management process where incidents are classified according to their severity and the area of service affected. Incident Priority Matrix in the Incident Management Process What resources are necessary to resolve the problem. The level of IT security and safety risks to the organization and its users. How many systems and services are affected and how critical are those to users. How many users and what types of users are affected by the incident. How an incident is affecting the productivity of the organization and its users.Five levels of priority: P1, P2, P3, P4, and P5.Ī lot of thought and experience goes into designing an incident priority matrix, but four points should always be considered:.Three levels of urgency: high, medium, and low.Three levels of impact: high, medium, and low.In the incident priority matrix above, there are: if both values are high, then it’s a high-priority incident (P1 or P2), and if the values lie somewhere in the middle, then it’s a medium priority (P3) incident. If both urgency and impact are low, then the incident is assigned a low priority (P4 or P5). In the matrix, we map out various incidents according to their impact and urgency, and a priority class is automatically assigned. The best way to map out incident priority is in an incident management matrix. It isn’t about an objective priority level, but what’s the highest priority among your options. However, the actions are not set in stone and will change with the situation and context. It defines the actions you will take in a particular situation. It’s important to remember that priority is relative. You start by calculating impact and the urgency, and assign the incident a priority value. When you consider the impact and urgency of a situation, you can easily assign priority and assign adequate resources. Incident priority is defined as the intersection of impact and urgency of an incident. Number of IT systems or services involvedĬategories of Impact in an Incident Priority Matrix.Loss of revenue or cost incurred in incident resolution.Factors to Determine the Impact of an Incident Impact can also be understood as severity. Therefore, a high-impact incident is one where many users are impacted, they completely lose the ability to use the service, and their service use contributes significantly to business needs. The impact of an incident is proportional to the number of users that were impacted, how badly they were impacted, and how important they are as users. These impacts on business are due to the incident causing downtime, loss of data, or other issues causing customer pain. A loss of revenue or customers following an incident are negative effects. The impact of an incident is defined as the measure of the effect of an incident, change, or problem on the day-to-day business of an organization. “Urgency” is a measure of how quickly a resolution is required. “Impact” is a measure of the extent of an incident and the potential damage it can cause. I don't know what I learned about myself as an actor here. You could literally go and ask him any question you wanted, and you would have an answer in essay form. He'd been on the project for eight years and has such a thorough breadth of knowledge about the escape, about Apartheid, about that whole era. I think he's an exceptional director.įor me, with this project, I was so thoroughly on board with the story and the message - and even more so with Francis himself. Francis himself, I think, is a director that everybody's going to be knowing about and is going to hear about in a couple of years. We had amazing actors it was a great script. What did your director, Francis Annan, help you discover about yourself or about your acting style while you were working with him?ĭaniel Webber: You know, I just truly loved the experience of being on set with him and with the rest of the group. There's an order to it all.Įvery director has their own style, and they bring out different things in their actors. Your life is based around prison routine, and you sort of lose that sense of self and that ability to dictate what you want to do and you know how you want to live your life. And we've all seen prison stories and dramas and whatnot, but it never really hit home how much your life is completely observed by other people now. What was the most surprising thing you learned about Tim and Stephen's story while you were doing your research?ĭaniel Webber: I think one of the things was how you basically lose autonomy in prison. We just asked them about their lives and tried to get more of a sense of the other person through Tim or through Steven, depending on who you're talking to. So, we ended up having these wonderful conversations with these guys that we highly respected, who were telling their story with their faces 10 feet tall up on the cinema screen. Dan and I were in rehearsals in this old cinema, and they ended up projecting Tim and Stephen at different times up on the cinema screen. What was really great was that the producers and the director organized for us to meet both of them beforehand. Tim came on the set maybe about three or four weeks into the shoot. Did you get to pick his brain about Stephen at all?ĭaniel Webber: Yeah, we did. I also read that Tim was actually on set with you guys for a little bit. So, it was basically just trying to understand why he did what he did. If you learn about that sort of stuff and you don't start yelling and screaming at the ceiling for how infuriating and enraging this government was, and how horrific it was, I think you're not human. Just trying to understand why he did that was probably the most important thing in portraying him, and that involves learning about apartheid and the regime there, and what they did to people. But I sort of looked at him through the prism of the decision to give up what I imagine was quite a comfortable middle-class life and join the ANC and go on this mission to fight his government. ![]() There was obviously Tim's book, and so I kept going back to that. ![]() In this case, there wasn't so much to be found out about Stephen online. It comes down to researching, and if you can, learn about the person as much as you can. So, I don't know what the key is, but I just jump in with everything that I have. You know the friends, family, and even the people themselves are gonna be watching, so it's really up to you to be as close and as accurate to what the truth and reality of their lives and the situation is. There's so much more at stake, in many ways. ![]() But I would say it's about responsibility. What's the key to bringing a real life personality to screen?ĭaniel Webber: Honestly, I don't know what the key is.
